one last election rant
Nov. 7th, 2008 03:15 pmI still can't believe Prop 8 passed. I just can't. I feel like I was slapped across the face. Every time I think about it I feel like I can't breath and my eyes tear up.
Civil liberties are the same no matter what your orientation is. It's just stripping peoples' rights away in the name of bigotry and under the guise of religion.
The anti-miscegenation law in California before 1948 (and Perez v. Sharp) would have banned Rand and I from getting married. Only sixty short years ago, our marriage would have been against the law.

Date: 2008-11-08 05:38 pm (UTC)When I was born (in '66- yikes!) my parents' marriage would have been against the law in 4 states. Only 4, but even that is scary and unreal.
I want to find out what I can do locally to fight what has happened.
I am not using my right to marry, so I'd like to give it to someone else. :)
