It's about what makes consumers tick and why niche markets have and gained clout. It targets different ideas that we have about marketing, like cuteness, quaintness, naturalness, and cleanliness. I think the most telling sentence in the whole book is: Throughout this book, I have shown how the aesthetics of consumerism are the lies we tell ourselves to preserve our individuality even as we enjoy the luxuries of the mass market. So true!
