52. Cute, Quaint, Hungry and Romantic: The Aesthetics of Consumerism by Daniel Harris: Interesting. It's a fast easy read. It's about what makes consumers tick and why niche markets have and gained clout. It targets different ideas that we have about marketing, like cuteness, quaintness, naturalness, and cleanliness. I think the most telling sentence in the whole book is: Throughout this book, I have shown how the aesthetics of consumerism are the lies we tell ourselves to preserve our individuality even as we enjoy the luxuries of the mass market. So true!
