16 - 47. Ranma 1/2 vol. 3-34 by Rumiko Takahashi: I am so in love with Ranma. It's so funny and light hearted. It takes place in modern Japan, but there's still the over the top martial arts with all the mystical parts to go with it.
48 - 50. Inuyasha vol. 1-3 by Rumiko Takahashi: This is a really popular cartoon that I've managed never to see. haha. It's really good too. Takes place between ancient and modern Japan. It's about spirts, demons, and the battle between good and evil.
51. V for Vendetta by Alan Moore and David Lloyd: Good, better than the movie. I didn't really like the artwork, which was sad since that's half the part of a grahic novel. It's more harsh and gritty.

Date: 2006-05-03 11:51 pm (UTC)I've heard about another manga/anime called Fruits Basket, in which people, when hugged, turn into animals from the chinese zodiac. sounds rather like a Ranma ripoff, but i'm told that it's good (and the graphic novels are perpetually checked out at the library). do you know anything about it?
i think i may be getting into another anime mood. Yesterday i was watching my DVDs of Sailor Moon Super (the only series worth watching --> Uranus and Neptune!), since i now have a tv but no cable so i can't watch anything else! I hope the neighbors can't hear all the high-pitched girly yapping in Japanese that's going on in my part of the house (that's the only problem with shojo: super squeaky voices!!) But then again, i've gotten to hear them arguing on several occasions, so i think it's a draw.

Date: 2006-05-05 12:57 am (UTC)I've seen Fruits Basket at the shop, but haven't picked it up yet. I'm starting to read Inuyasha though and I like it. I must be the only person on the face of the earth who has never seen the show!
I used to watch Sailor Moon in high school/middle school when it was on TV.
I'm going to be going to Texas twice in June (Dallas/Grapevine) so we should meet up!
